Author Guidelines

The manuscripts

The manuscript should be an original research paper that sufficiently contributes novelty to educational science, language education, early childhood education, primary education, secondary education, and higher education. Authors are requested to submit their papers electronically by using the Journal of Nusantara Education online submission procedure. The corresponding author should also state that the manuscript is not concurrently being considered for publication elsewhere. The editors will ignore submissions that do not follow these procedures.

Manuscript Submission Files

Authors are required to submit two versions of their manuscript during the submission process:

1. Title Page (with Author Information)

   This file should contain:

   • Full title of the manuscript;
   • Author(s)' full name(s) (given name and family name);
   • Academic title(s) (if applicable);
   • Affiliation(s) and complete institutional address(es);
   • Corresponding author's e-mail address; and
   • Any additional information related to the author(s), if necessary.

2. Blinded Manuscript (Anonymous Version)

   This file must not contain any information that could identify the author(s). All names, affiliations, acknowledgements, funding information, ORCID IDs, self-identifying citations, and other identifying details should be removed to ensure a double-blind peer-review process.

The structures of the manuscripts

1. Title. The title should be clear and informative and not more than 14 words.

2. Author's names and institutions. The author's names should be accompanied by the author's institutions and email addresses, without any academic title. For a joint paper, one of the authors should be notified as to the corresponding author.

3. Abstract, keywords. The The abstract should be between 200 and 250 words and written as a single paragraph without citations, tables, figures, or abbreviations unless they are widely recognized. Authors must provide the abstract in both English and Bahasa Indonesia. The abstract should briefly describe: (1) the background or introduction to the study, (2) the research gap or problem addressed, (3) the research objectives, (4) the research methods, including participants or data sources where appropriate, (5) the principal findings, and (6) the main implications or contributions of the study. The keywords should consist of 3–5 words or phrases, arranged alphabetically and separated by semicolons. Keywords should accurately reflect the main topics of the manuscript and avoid repeating words already used in the title whenever possible.

4. Introduction. This section should provide a clear and logical overview of the study. It should include: (1) the background of the study, supported by relevant theories and current issues; (2) a critical review of previous studies (literature review), which should be integrated into the introduction rather than presented as a separate section unless required by the journal; (3) the identification of the research gap; (4) the novelty of the study; (5) the formulation of the research problem or research questions; (6) the research objectives; and (7) the expected contributions or significance of the study for theory, practice, policy, and/or future research.

5. Methods. This section should describe the research design, participants or data sources, research setting (if applicable), research instruments, data collection procedures, and data analysis techniques. For quantitative studies, authors should clearly explain the sampling technique, variables, and statistical analyses employed. For qualitative studies, authors should describe the trustworthiness criteria and data analysis procedures. For mixed-methods studies, the integration of quantitative and qualitative data should be clearly explained. Authors should also provide sufficient methodological detail to ensure the study can be understood and, where appropriate, replicated.

6. Results and Discussion. This section should present the research findings clearly, systematically, and concisely using tables, figures, or other appropriate illustrations where necessary. Authors should avoid merely describing the findings; instead, they should interpret and discuss the results critically by relating them to relevant theories and previous studies. The discussion should highlight the significance, novelty, and contributions of the findings to the existing body of knowledge. Authors are also encouraged to explain the practical, theoretical, or policy implications of the study and acknowledge any limitations that may inform future research.

7. Conclusion. This section should summarize the main findings of the study without merely repeating the results or discussion. The conclusion should directly address the research objectives or research questions and be presented in the same logical order as discussed in the manuscript. Authors should clearly highlight the contribution and significance of the study, followed by its theoretical, practical, and/or policy implications, where applicable. The conclusion should also acknowledge the limitations of the study and provide recommendations for future research to address these limitations and further develop the research topic.

8. References. This section should list only the sources cited in the manuscript. All references cited in the text must appear in the reference list, and all references listed must be cited in the text. Authors are strongly encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote to ensure consistency and accuracy in citations and references. References must follow the American Psychological Association (APA) 7th edition style.

The manuscript must include a minimum of 30 references. Authors are expected to cite recent, relevant, and high-quality scholarly literature. At least 80% of the references should be derived from peer-reviewed journal articles, while up to 20% may consist of books or other credible scholarly sources. Alternatively, authors may use 100% peer-reviewed journal articles. Journal articles with DOI numbers should include active DOI links in the reference list whenever available. References should preferably be published within the last 5–10 years, except for seminal works that are essential to the study. The accuracy, completeness, and consistency of all references are the sole responsibility of the authors. APA 7 recommends including the DOI in URL format (e.g., https://doi.org/...) whenever a DOI is available.

 
 

General Writing Format

1. The manuscript is prepared in an A4 paper, single-sided, and single line spacing format. A new paragraph should start with 5 characters from the left margin, using an 11-size, Times-new-romans font type.

2. The manuscript is written in proper Indonesian and English.

3. The manuscript should be between 8 to 12 pages long.

4. The top and bottom margins are 1,5 inch.

5. The title is written using capital letters only at first word or special name (example: location name), 13 font size, center position.

6. Subtitles are written using capital letters only at first word or special name, 11 font size, starting from the left margin.

7. Sub of subtitles, if any, are written using capital letters only at first word or special name. They should be started from the left margin.

8. Sub of subtitles, if any, are written using capital letters only at the beginning of each word except for connecting words, all in italics. They should be started from the left margin.

9. References should be those of the last ten years publication (>80%), except for key references (80%). Referring to any textbook should be minimized (<20%).


Specific Writing Format

1. Equations and formula should be numbered as (1), (2)...etc. appearing to their right.

2.  Estimation results from a software package are not allowed to be directly presented in the paper. They should be presented in summary tables.

 

Tables and Figures

Tables and figures should be presented as follows:

1. The name of tables and figures should follow a numbering system (Arabic numbering system). The title of the tables and figures are placed at the top and the bottom, respectively.

2. The tables and figures should provide the source of information, if any, at the bottom. 

3. Any table should contain only the heading and contents. The table contains row lines only without column lines. Note(s) and source(s) should be included underneath the table where appropriate. 

Acknowledgement

Acknowledgement, if any, should be written as the footnote of the manuscript's title.

Subjects and Authors Index

The authors should provide an index of the subject, namely the specific terms in the manuscript. The authors should also provide the index of authors, namely the key authors of papers referred to in the manuscript. Please write the family name followed by the given name.
 

Citation

Citation in the text body should be written using the family name and years of publication. Example:

a. Hill (2001) suggests that the objective of depreciation is...

b. Inflation targeting would be sufficient (McCain, 1982).

c. The definition of contagion is ... (Wagner, 1976; Rhonda 2009).

d. The Authors are recommended to use Mendeley Reference software.

 

References

The manuscript is expected to involve approximately 20-25 primary and up-to-date references to assert high-quality contributions to knowledge development. Citations and references must strictly follow the APA (American Psychological Association) style.  References should include only works that are cited within the text of the manuscript.  Consulting the APA style manual (http://www.apastyle.org/pubmanual.html) is strongly recommended for completing manuscript submissions.
