Author Guidelines
1) General Information
Journal of English Language Teaching and Learning Studies (ELTIS) publishes scholarly works in English Language Teaching (ELT) and language learning studies. Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere.
ELTIS welcomes submissions from researchers, teacher educators, and practitioners in relevant disciplines.
2) Types of Manuscripts Accepted
ELTIS accepts (but is not limited to):

3) Manuscript Length and Language

Language: English (academic standard)

Length (recommended):

Research/Review Articles: 5,000–8,000 words (including references)

Practice-Based Reports: 3,000–6,000 words

Book Reviews: 1,000–2,000 words

Use clear, concise academic writing. Authors are encouraged to proofread for grammar and clarity before submission.
4) Manuscript Structure (Recommended)
Please organize your manuscript in the following order:
A. Title Page (submitted separately, if your OJS setup requires it)

5) Formatting Requirements (General Standard)

File format: MS Word (.doc/.docx)
-
Page: A4, 1.15–1.5 line spacing (either is acceptable; be consistent)
-
Font: Times New Roman 12 or Calibri 11 (choose one and use consistently)

Margins: Normal (2.54 cm / 1 inch) recommended
-
Headings: Use clear hierarchical headings (e.g., 1, 1.1, 1.2) or standard heading styles
-
Tables/Figures:

Number consecutively (Table 1, Figure 1)
-
Provide titles and sources (if adapted)
-
Ensure readable resolution

Abbreviations: Define at first use
-
Direct quotations: Provide page numbers
Tip for double-blind review: remove author names, affiliations, and any self-identifying phrases (e.g., “in our university”), and anonymize acknowledgements until acceptance.
6) Referencing Style
Use APA 7th Edition referencing style (recommended for ELT and education fields).

References list: alphabetical order, hanging indent recommended

Use DOI when available
7) Research Ethics and Consent (Human Participants)
If your study involves human participants (students, teachers, interviews, surveys, classroom observation), authors must ensure:

informed consent was obtained (and parental/guardian consent for minors where applicable)
-
participants’ privacy and confidentiality are protected
-
institutional approval/ethical clearance is obtained if required by your institution
8) Plagiarism and Originality
ELTIS screens submissions for originality (similarity check may be applied).
-
Plagiarism, redundant publication, and improper citation are unacceptable.
-
Manuscripts with significant overlap may be rejected or returned for correction.
9) Use of AI Tools
If authors use AI tools for language editing or other assistance, authors must:

ensure the work remains original and properly cited
-
not use AI to fabricate data, references, or results
-
disclose material AI use (if it significantly affected writing/analysis) in an Author Note or Acknowledgement
Authors remain fully responsible for the manuscript content.
10) Submission Checklist (Before You Submit)
Make sure you have:

the manuscript file (.doc/.docx) prepared for double-blind review
-
an abstract (150–250 words) and 3–5 keywords
-
complete references in APA 7th format
-
tables/figures placed clearly (or uploaded separately if required)
-
ethics statement (if involving participants)
-
author metadata filled in OJS (names, affiliations, emails, ORCID if any)
11) Revision Process
If revision is requested, please submit:
-
a revised manuscript (clean version or tracked changes—follow editor instruction)
-
a Response to Reviewers document (point-by-point responses)
